Rosary Chain Prayer
We are ever grateful to God for Our Lady of Fatima who revealed herself as the ‘Lady of the Holy Rosary’. Last year we celebrated the centenary year of the Fatima event. It was a reliving of that graceful event for every one of us. Mother Mary, Mother of Jesus, gave us the opportunity to pray along with her and with the three children of Fatima. Now, on every first Saturday of the month after the evening Holy Mass a candle light procession, praying the Holy Rosary with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima is conducted at Ross Hill shrine, Visakhapatnam. Since last 24 years the devotees at Ross Hill are organizing the Rosary Chain Prayer without break.
In the present context of disharmony and hopelessness, the Almighty God calls us to sanctification through active listening of His Word, faithful reception of the Sacraments and devotional and meditative recitation of the Redeeming Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. In the introduction to the apostolic letter "Rosary of the Virgin Mary", St John Paul II writes “Simple yet profound, Rosary still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of Holiness”.
A 'harvest of Holiness' is at our reach when we have the Rosary at the central part of the Catholic Spiritual life. We have rightly the Holy Eucharist at the central part of the Rosary Mysteries. Modern developments and facilities in various fields have scattered and isolated the humanity instead of leading them to live as worthy children of God. Our Life must be changed after the model of Mary’s own life where there is perfect unity with the will of God. When we reflectively pray the Rosary Mysteries we will discover the meaning and value of our daily events of Life.
Inspired and challenged by this call to pray the Holy Rosary, the devotees of Mother Mary at Ross Hill Shrine, Visakhapatnam under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Velangani Rao Dola MSFS, the Director, continue to organize the Rosary Chain Prayer with the apostolic blessing of our Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. M. Prakash. This year we are at the 24th year of this prayer campaign.
